DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

As a UX/UI Designer I’m regularly presented with this challenge: “I want to make my website / app / product more usable”

Sounds straightforward……but what does that actually mean? Well it can actually mean a lot of things…… for example:

  • “I want more people to contact my business through my website”

  • “I want my website to work better on phones”

  • “I want more people to buy my product”

  • “I want more people to join/subscribe to my digital platform”

  • “I want more people to be educated on these topics I’m passionate about”

  • “I want more people to learn about what I do”

  • And my personal favorite: “I’m not sure, but I know there are issues with my website/app/product and I want to fix them”

So I’ve learned on my journey as a UX/UI designer, that the challenge I’m first presented with is not the true problem of the situation. In order to find the true problem, I need to ask A LOT of questions to understand the situation and identify what the true problem is in order to develop an effective solution.

"Two of the most important characteristics of good design are discoverability and understanding."
